Man LifeFlighted after weekend motorcycle accident

ELYRIA — State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in which a motorcyclist struck a guardrail Saturday night.

At 11:19 p.m., Nathanial Coleman, 25, of Elyria, was traveling northbound on state Route 57 north of Grafton Road on a 1983 Honda Ascot motorcycle. According to a press release, Coleman lost control of the motorcycle and drove onto the paved berm, striking a guardrail.

Coleman was then ejected from the motorcycle, and the motorcycle was struck by another vehicle, which fled the scene. State Highway Patrol said the vehicle did not cause the initial crash.

Coleman was flown by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Hospital representatives said they had no information on him this morning.

According to the release, state Route 57 northbound was closed for an hour and 30 minutes while rescue crews were on the scene.

The cause of the crash is unknown and State Highway Patrol is investigating.
