Maria Theresa Sweda (nee Serrian), age 94, passed away at home with family, Friday, September 7, 2012, in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
He maintained a home in North Ridgeville from 1946 until 1998, at which time moved to Rochester Hills, Michigan, to live with her son and his family. She resided in Muskegon from 1962-66 and Detroit from 1966-1985 with her husband, George, who was a public health physician until his death. Mrs. Sweda worked, for many years, for the Veteran’s Administration in Cleveland, as an executive secretary, until her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Sandy); grandchildren, Sean (Gabrielle), Jon-Paul (Elisabeth), George, Elizabeth and Brianna; and former daughter-in-law, Candyce Sweda. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Gloria (Arthur) Serrian; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Catherine Serrian; dear husband, George; siblings and their spouses, Angelina (Charles) Guinta, Michael (Mary), Albert (Ida), Frank (Mabel), Richard (Janette) and Arthur.
Memorial calling hours will be held Monday, September 17, 2012, from 2 until 7 P.M., at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Memorial Mass will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. Reverend Bob Franco, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Maria’s name, to the National Wildlife Federation or the Sierra Club.
