Wanda Eileen Hurlbut, 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at home with her beloved ones. Wanda Eileen Hull was born August 18, 1925, in Elyria, to the late Henry Clyde and Lucille Cole Hull.
She graduated from high school in 1943 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, then moved back to Elyria. She married James Aldrich Hurlbut on July 27, 1947, and in 1969 the family moved to Texas. Her passions in life were her children and grandchildren, many pets, a love of wild animals, dancing to 1940s’ swing music, her church and choir, bridge club, volunteering, flowers and playing piano. She also loved to travel and had numerous excursions in Europe, Africa, Central America, Israel, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 1971.
Survivors include children: Bryan Clark Hurlbut and his wife, Virginia Craft; Roger Lee Hurlbut and his wife, Janet Davis Hurlbut; and Sandra Lou Hurlbut; grandchildren, Ashli Brooke Smick, Morgan Leigh Wheat, Lindsey Rose Hurlbut, Phillip Clark Hurlbut and Ross Lee Hurlbut; and great-grandchildren, Everett, Graham and Finley Smick.
Service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home and Crematory in Forth Worth, Texas, where visitation will begin at 2 P.M. A private family committal will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Her memory may be honored by gifts to the North Central Texas Alzheimer’s Association, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.
