Food

Luau for Stein Hospice, 11:15 a.m. Sept. 29. Miller Boat Ferry leaves Catawba Island at 11:15 a.m. for a noon pig roast, games, auction and tour of the island. Ferry departs at 4:15 p.m. Cost includes round-trip ferry, pig roast (beverages excluded) and island tour for $25 per person and $20 for children 12 and younger. Harvest pancake breakfast, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at Carlisle Visitor Center, 12282 Diagonal Road, LaGrange. All-you-can-eat pancakes (plain, chocolate chip, blueberry) with your choice of whipped cream or strawberry topping and served with sausage, juice, coffee or tea. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 2 to 11, and free for younger than 2.

Empty Bowls by the Lake, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at Bleser Park, Avon Lake. Local restaurants will provide the soup; pottery bowls will be made by community members.
