Ray had lived in Findlay until 1948. He had also lived in Elyria, Sheffield Lake and New London. He has resided in Sullivan with his son Eric for the last six years. Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and the Pacific. He had worked as a welder in the Lorain Ship Yard where he retired after 32 years. Ray had been a member of the Norwalk Eagles 711, the Norwalk VFW Post 2743 and the New London American Legion 292.
He is survived by his children, Eric (Carole) Kistler of Sullivan, Franz (Pam) Kistler of Sandusky, Karen (Tom) Atskoff of Huron, Kristine (Rick) Looney of Heath, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; his brother, Robert Kistler of Florida; his former wife, Colleen Kistler of Sandusky; and special friend of 20 years, Virginia Swiger of New London. He was Preceded in death by his infant daughter, Katherine in 1960; his great grandson, Jonathan Kistler; his brothers, Willard and Cecil Kistler.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, September 19, 2012 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 19 with Pastor Doug Lang officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Ruggles Cemetery.
