David W. Newbraugh, Jr., 33, of Elyria, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, September 16, 2012. David was born November 6, 1978 in Amherst and was raised in Lorain graduating from Clearview High School. He spent the last year and a half in Elyria as his home.
David worked for 15 years for Kentucky Fried Chicken Company in their Solon and Sheffield Lake Restaurants. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, David achieved the level of an Eagle Scout. He loved spending time with his family as well as gardening and tending flowers.
Survivors include his mother, Mellany Thomas; his father and his wife David and Shannon Newbraugh of Richlands, Virginia; his brothers, Shawn and Eric Newbraugh, both of Lorain; his sisters, Kellie and her husband Bryan Taylor of Albany, New York, Lynette Pennington and Haylee Pennington of Richlands, Virginia; and his life time partner, John Capers of Elyria.
Friends may call Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Ed Wishart, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Grafton, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Avon.
