Milford “Sam” Taylor

Milford “Sam” Taylor, 87, of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Hospice of Medina County, following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Penfield, on February 7, 1925 to Ralph and Mildred Jameyson Taylor and had resided in Spencer for the past 73 years.

He was a 1943 graduate of Spencer High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Sam was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church and Wellington Eagles. He served his community well as the Clerk of Council, Board of Public Affairs and as a Volunteer Fireman. In 2011, he was chosen Spencer Citizen of the Year.

He was the loving husband and father to his wife, Marie, to whom he was married for 65 years; sons, Tim (Lynne) Taylor of Deerfield, Ohio, Terry Taylor of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Allison and Hillary of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loren and sister, Joann Spies.

Funeral service will be Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer. Rev. Dr. Tim Morrison and Rev. Lisa Morrison of Spencer will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 7:45 P.M.
