4:51 p.m. — 7300 block West River Road S., reported theft of a vehicle and five license plates from D and S Auto.
7:30 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., reported theft of an iPod from a house party.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
10:10 a.m. — 600 block Middle Ave., a 14-year-old boy arrested and charged with menacing and resisting arrest. Police said the boy was causing a disturbance in class at Elyria High School after an incident with a girl in the class. Police said the boy continued to yell at the girl, threatening her, and struggled with officers as he was arrested.
10:35 a.m. — 300 block Yale Ave., theft of a gas grill.
2:32 p.m. — 400 block Broad St., criminal damage to Powerhouse Gym. The emergency exit was pried open, but no damage was made to the equipment and nothing was missing.
5:03 p.m. — 200 block Cornell Ave., reported attempted burglary. Police said the suspect tried to enter a window that was found open.
6:08 p.m. — 500 block S. Abbe Road, burglary of an apartment. The woman who lives in the apartment said someone kicked in the door, threw food on the floor and poured bleach on the carpet and furniture. The woman told police she had an argument with one of her neighbors that week whom she owed $15 for baby-sitting. She told the woman she would not pay her the money because she had baby-sat her children in the past.
9:45 p.m. — 100 block New Hampshire Circle, Matthew F. Barnes, 27, same address, issued a summons for theft. Barnes’s neighbor said Barnes stole wood from his wood pile. Barnes admitted to taking the wood, but said he thought it would be OK after he heard his neighbor telling another person they could take the wood.
10:03 p.m. — 1000 block Garford Ave., reported burglary of a home.
Lorain police
Tuesday, Sept. 18
2:33 p.m. — 4300 block Tacoma Ave., reported burglary. The homeowner said her children’s Xbox 360 and games were stolen. A neighbor told police a 6-foot-tall, thin Hispanic boy wearing jeans and a blue T-shirt was trying to get into the house earlier in the day. The homeowner said the description of the suspect matched that of a man who entered through her window when her children were home in May.
4:12 p.m. —100 block W. Erie Ave., a man said he was at the Lorain Public Library on Facebook when a woman he knew from high school messaged him and told him she was being held captive by a man named David who had a gun. He told police David then began typing that he would kill the woman and him but then said he was “just playing.” The man said he did not know where the woman lived but believed it was on the east side of Lorain.
5:39 p.m. —2300 block E. Erie Ave., Jose A. Dejesus, 31, 1700 block E. 19th St., arrested and charged with aggravated menacing. Robert Mahaffey said Dejesus threatened to burn his house down and threw rocks at the house because of an incident earlier this week in which his daughter was stabbed. A witness told police he heard Dejesus threaten Mahaffey and saw him throw rocks.
9:02 p.m. — 3900 block W. Erie Ave., police said two vehicles were found vandalized after officers were investigating a report of a suspicious man in the area. The man was described as a tall Hispanic man, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. A witness said the man was looking into cars in the parking lot.
10:20 p.m. — 3100 block Amherst Ave., a man told police he was in his backyard smoking a cigarette when he heard his truck alarm go off. He said he saw a silver Pontiac stopped next to his vehicle that drove away when he walked around to the front of the house. The man said he then noticed his driver’s side window was shattered.
11:59 p.m. — 4700 block Meadow Lark Drive, reported theft of a vehicle.

3:27 a.m. — 3400 block G St., reported burglary.

Friday, Sept. 14
3 p.m. — 400 block E. Main St., theft complaint.
Tuesday, Sept. 18
12:15 a.m. — 100 block Pleasant St., resident heard a car door shut. He looked out his window and saw a person sitting inside his vehicle. As the resident ran out to the vehicle, the person ran away.

Tuesday, Sept. 11
4 p.m. — 900 block Chestnut St., complaint about debris from the mill.
9:37 p.m. — 700 block Main St., a resident heard two people arguing. Officers learned that a father and son returned home, and the argument started and that the woman at the home “did consume a few adult beverages” that evening, so that was most likely the cause of the problem.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
5:36 p.m. — Main Street, report of a passenger in a vehicle was drinking in the parking lot.
Thursday, Sept. 13
5:40 p.m. — 700 block Erie St., dirt bike in a bean field. The farmers agreed to not press charges and the rider was advised to not return to the field to ride the bike.
8:17 p.m. — 1000 block Plymouth Drive, a woman requested extra patrol because she and other neighbors are having problems with juveniles ringing door bells and pulling out landscaping.
Saturday, Sept. 15
2:19 p.m. — Willow Park, car window smashed and purse stolen.
Tuesday, Sept. 18
1:21 p.m. — 900 block Main St., an employee from Grafton Food Mart reported a shoplifter. He left the store, but officers located him. No charges were filed and restitution was made for the items.
3:59 p.m. — 1000 block Hunters Chase, $400 cash was taken from an unlocked vehicle.
