CLEVELAND – The Browns got off to a dismal start in their quest to avoid falling to 0-3.
Buffalo scored on its first two drives and led 14-0 after a quarter at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The Browns failed to get a first down in three drives, and rookie receiver Josh Gordon dropped a third-down pass that would’ve extended the first possession.
Buffalo capitalized with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing a 9-yard touchdown to T.J. Graham, who was wide open over the middle. The Bills ran just twice on the drive, throwing six times out of three-receiver formations. Steve Johnson caught an 18-yarder on third-and-8 to move the ball to the 20-yard line.
Running back C.J. Spiller, who leads the league in rushing, made it 14-0 on another defensive breakdown. He took a screen 32 yards for the score as he ran down the left sideline without a Brown around.
Both drives were started by good punt returns from Leodis Mckelvin, the league leader.
Not all went right for Buffalo, which had a lot of fans in the stands. Spiller hurt his left shoulder at the end of a catch-and-run and was taken into the locker room by cart.
