ELYRIA — The Lorain County Metro Parks wants to invest more money in Cascade Park, if it can partner with the city for future operations.
The original $1 million offer will doubled, according to a counter proposal sent to this city this week.
The park district has simplified the terms of the contract previously proposed by the Elyria city officials and extended a $2 million commitment to the project.
“The Board of Park Commissioners recognizes the regional and historical significance of Cascade Park,” said a statement from Metro Parks. “Like Lakeview Park, Cascade Park is one of the two great public parks in Lorain County.”
The city has been in negotiations with Metro Parks for several months, hoping to forge a partnership to maintain and improve the historic park.
