Norene Johnson (nee Hampton), 72, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Ames Hospice in Westlake, following a long illness. She was born April 8, 1940 in Virgie, Kentucky, and was an Elyria resident for most of her life.
Norene was employed as a teacher at Clearview High School for 19 years. Following her retirement, she worked at the Elyria Public Library for 20 years, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Michael) Oleksa of Elyria; son, Keith (Christine) Johnson of Olmsted Township; three grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Johnson and Sheila Edmunds, both of Virgie, Kentucky, Lois Roemer of Albany, New York, and Gaeith Johnson of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers, Forest Hampton Jr. of Elyria, and Julius, Larry, Juble, David, Ronny, and Gary Hampton, all of Virgie, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Johnson on May 11, 2006.
All services were held in Virgie, Kentucky.
