She lived on the Clarksfield Township family farm her entire life except for the last 10 months. She was in the first class at Murray Ridge and later attended Christie Lane Workshop. She was particularly fond of anything yellow. During nice weather, she could be seen picking up sticks and pine cones and burning them in the burn barrel. Donna was an avid photographer, never leaving home without her camera. She was a fan of “The Three Stooges” and “Everyone Loves Raymond”. A woman of few words, she was blessed with the gift of remembering birthdays and could tell you the day of the week a birthday would fall on. She faithfully put flowers on her familys graves every Memorial Day. Donna loved swimming, going to the fair, having her picture taken, holidays, birthday parties, visiting her brother in Michigan and most of all, her Saturday dates with Mark Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harry Grimes; and a sister, Nadene Sutherland.
Survivors include her brother, Jim Grimes of Wellington, her brother, Dale Grimes of Barryton; Michigan; her nephews, Dick Sutherland of New London, Bob Sutherland of Bellevue, Garth Grimes of Elyria and Beau Grimes of Alexandria, Virginia; her seven great nephews; and one great niece; six great-great nephews; and three great-great nieces.
A service celebrating the life of Donna Grimes will be held at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main, New London at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 29, 2012. The Reverend Dr. Brian Wilbert will officiate. The family will receive friends at Eastman Funeral Home at 10 A.M., an hour before the service.
