Albert T. Koviak, 81, of Elyria, died on Monday, October 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family, following a short illness. Mr. Koviak was born on March 25, 1931 in Elyria.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the American Legion, Post 12, the AMVETS, Post 32, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #774, as well as the United Polish Club in Elyria. He was employed as an accountant for Crawford Consultants and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and great granddaughter, golfing, and the outdoors. He loved being social and enjoyed spending time with his pets.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanne M. (nee Yourkvitch) who was devoted to his care; one daughter, Renee M. (Dale) Burrer of Elyria; three sons, Albert J. Koviak of Elyria, Michael J. (James Polzner) Koviak of Richmond Heights, and James M. Koviak of Elyria; four grandchildren, David L. (Maria Alfano) Cooper, Christopher M. Koviak, Andrew J. Koviak and Matthew J. Koviak; and one great granddaughter, Giuliana Cooper, all of Elyria. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Koviak of Grafton and Thomas Koviak of Baltimore, Maryland; and two sisters, Margaret Cook of Iowa and Agnes Maleski of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Koviak and Stanley Koviak; and two sisters, Sister Patricia Koviak SSJ and Mary Louise Williams.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 A.M. with the Reverend Father Charles Diedrick, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10:30 A.M.
