Charlene Elaine Morris, 94, of Wooster, formerly of Elyria, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Wooster Community Hospital. She was born on January 14, 1918, in Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of Charles Allen and Gertrude Elizabeth Gover Morfier, Sr.
On May 30, 1942 she married her husband, Joseph M. Morris. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Charlene graduated from Bellevue High School in 1936 and obtained her nursing degree in 1939. She was a RN at Elyria Memorial Hospital for 40 years and taught at the M.B. Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria for 25 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was an avid Buckeye fan and enjoyed reading.
Charlene is survived by her children, Dr. Ken (Linda) Morris of Durham, North Carolina, Marijane (Ralph) Hanvey of Sheffield Lake and Cindy (Bob) Sickman of Orrville; grandchildren, Melissa and Rebecca Roig, Jessica Hale, Sarah (Kyle) Maynard, Meghan (Kevin) Susak, Jaclyn Sickman, Alison (Chris) Hines and Jacob (Pamela) Morris; great-grandchildren, William and Alyssa Gunter, Mackenzie and Riley Hale, Cadence and Miles Maynard, Jackson and Khloe Doretich, Cecilia Hines, Kaya and Xavier Susak; and a brother, Charles A. “Bud” (Edith) Morfier, Jr. of Bellevue.
Along with her husband, Charlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012, at 11 A.M., in the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, with Reverend Larry Black officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 A.M., until the time of service on Monday.
