Kathleen (Dowse) Brunetto, 85, of Amherst, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Mercy New Life Hospice from a 2 year battle with lung cancer. Kathleen (Kay) was born, July 10, 1927, and raised in Bishops Waltham, England.
She met her husband, Jack Brunetto, on a blind date set up by her friend during World War II. She arrived in the United States on St. Patrick’s Day 1945. Kathleen was a war bride coming over on a boat from England to the United States.
Kathleen is survived by her loving children, Michael (Gail) Brunetto, Jack (Jayne) Brunetto, Linda Brunetto, and David (Laura) Brunetto; her grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) Shamhart, Kin (Tom) Foster, Chris (DeAnna) Brunetto, Tony (Kristi) Gentry, Lori (Kevin) Clayton, Damien (Kelly) Brunetto, and Gina Brunetto; she is also survived by her six great grandchildren, Tyler and Casey Sanford, Melanie and Trevor Clayton, and Anthony and Matthew Gentry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack, who passed away December 23, 1998; her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Kay enjoyed going on bus trips to casinos, making ceramics, having lunch with her friends and her monthly lunch date with her Weight Watchers friends of over 30 years. Kay was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved working in her gardens.
Our family would like to say a special thanks to Sue Goodell of Mercy New Life Hospice and all the other kind nurses and complete staff that helped in caring for Kay. Our family would also like to thank, Gail Brunetto, daughter-in-law, of Kay, who was the primary caregiver over the past 2 1/2 years.
The Brunetto family will receive family and friends, Friday, October 5, 2012, from 4 until 8 P.M., in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 9:30 A.M. in the Funeral Center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Reverend Fr. Michael J. Denk, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
The family suggest donations be made in Memory of Kathleen to St. Joseph Church, Amherst or to Mercy New Life Hospice.
