North Ridgeville police arrest man suspected in at least 18 burglaries

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — North Ridgeville police arrested an Elyria man who they believe is responsible for at least 18 night-time burglaries.

The suspect, Nicholas Pelfrey, 28, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. today after a resident reported a suspect had broken into her home on Hardwood Drive by cutting a window screen. Police arrested the man later in the morning at his home on South Carolina Avenue.

According to a press release, the North Ridgeville Detective Bureau found cash and other evidence in Pelfrey’s home linking him to approximately 18 home burglaries since August 16.

He is also suspected in burglaries in Elyria, Avon and surrounding townships, police said.

Pelfrey is being charged with one count of theft and one count of burglary. He is being held at North Ridgeville City Jail.

Police said Pelfrey is currently on probation and has prior arrests for similar charges.
