John Skok, 83, of Amherst, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 after a long illness.
Born in Elyria, he was a 1947 graduate of Elyria High School. John was a 1954 graduate of Ohio State University where he received a degree in ceramic engineering.
His working career included management positions at Ferro Corporation, Harshaw Chemical Company, and North American Refractories Company.
John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.
In his leisure time, John enjoyed working with a computer, reading, and working puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Julanne (nee Diedrick); a son, James of Amherst; sisters, Sophie McCartor and Jeanne Walend, both of Elyria, and Sally Hildebrandt of Carlisle Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Skok and Aleksandra Skok (nee Wisniewski); sisters, Elizabeth Dzieniszewski and Florence Grzenda; and brother, Matthew Skok, who died at birth.
A private graveside burial will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
