EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – As expected the Browns (0-4) will go with four active receivers today against the New York Giants (2-2) at a soggy MetLife Stadium.
Mohamed Massaquoi and Travis Benjamin are inactive with hamstring injuries and didn’t make the trip. That leaves Greg Little, rookie Josh Gordon, Joshua Cribbs and Jordan Norwood as the healthy receivers.
Rookie Josh Cooper was not promoted from the practice squad.
Cribbs will play despite sustaining a concussion Sept. 27 against the Ravens. He practiced Wednesday through Friday and declared himself ready.
Gordon, who has seven catches in four games, is expected to start. Offensive coordinator Brad Childress said he had his best practice as a professional Wednesday.
Rookie running back Trent Richardson will be in uniform and start after the birth of his first son Friday.
Strong safety T.J. Ward will start after surgery last weekend to repair a broken thumb. He will wear a cast. He was injured early in the Ravens game but finished.
Tight end Alex Smith (concussion) and safety Tashaun Gipson (knee) are inactive. Smith hasn’t practiced or played since suffering a concussion in Week 2 against the Bengals.
Running back Brandon Jackson, quarterback Thaddeus Lewis and rookie offensive lineman Ryan Miller were healthy scratches.
The Giants inactives: receivers Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden, safety Kenny Phillips, defensive tackle Rocky Bernard, cornerback Jayron Hosley, linebacker Keith Rivers and tackle David Diehl.
