ELYRIA — A man was arrested for an alleged robbery in the 200 block of Lake Avenue around 12:35 a.m. Monday.
The 24-year man said he was walking when Raymond E. Smith confronted him threatened to hurt him if he didn’t give him money, according to a police report. The man said he gave $30 to Smith.
Smith was apprehended at a nearby convenience store. The man identified Smith as the man who threatened him.
Smith, 36, of the 100 block of Irondale Street, was being held at the Lorain County Jail on Monday night in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Smith, who has an extensive criminal history including convictions for robbery and possession of cocaine, is due in Elyria Municipal Court today.
