Lillie Pearl Bacon

Lillie Pearl Bacon, 56, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2012, in her home, following a short illness. She was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, coming to Lorain in 1964. She was a graduate of Admiral King High School, class of 1974.

Mrs. Bacon was employed as a retailer for Ames Department Store and worked for McDonalds, Cranberrys Restaurant in Maryland and Tudys Restaurant in Lorain. She attended Highland Park First Baptist Church in Landover, Maryland. She is a member of Second New Hope Baptist Church of Lorain, where she was also a choir member. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 275 in Glenarden, Maryland. She enjoyed sewing, playing card games, bingo and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Leroy L. Bacon of Lorain; daughters, Pamela Shumpert, Kiawana (Molly) Shumpert, both of Lorain, and Waneka Bacon of Landover, Maryland; son, Brian (Hackett) Shumpert of Lorain; and 13 grandchildren; brothers, Willie (Tanya) Shumpert, Billie (Debbie) Shumpert, Perry (Audrey) Young of Elyria, James (Irene) Young, Curtis Young, Keith (Stephanie) Young of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Ida Young, Carolyn (Joe) Weatherspoon, Anita (Ellis) Young, Teresa Young of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by parents, McKinley and Hattie Mae (nee Watson) Young; daughter, Karen Young; sisters, Virginia Watkins and Ida Marie Young; brother, Mac Kenneth Young.

Friends may call Thursday, October 11, 2012, from 10 A.M., until time of service at 11 A.M., in the Greater Christ Temple, 123 Oberlin Road, Elyria. Elder Darrell Shumpert, Pastor, will officiate.
