SHEFFIELD LAKE — A fire this morning damaged a Sheffield Lake apartment.
Fire Chief Tim Card said his department was called at 7:28 a.m. to the unit at 4385 Lake Ave. and arrived to find smoke showing from the apartment.
“It was basically just a room and its contents on fire, and they were extinguished pretty quick,” he said.
He said there were no injuries, and the two people who lived in the apartment got out on their own.
The apartment building contains eight units, but none of the other units were damaged, he said.
“It didn’t get into the structure at all,” he said, referring to the fire.
The Sheffield Lake Fire Department was assisted at the scene by crews from Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield, Sheffield Township and Elyria Township.
Card estimated damage at $25,000 and said a cause of the fire is still under investigation.
