Mrs. Lelia Hudson

Mrs. Lelia Hudson (nee Doss), 92, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2012, in the Wesleyan Village. She was born in Myrtlewood, Alabama, to the late Prince and Pinkie Doss.

Mrs. Hudson lived in Mobile for over 70 years; was an active member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church, where she served in the Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, Senor Choir and Sunday School member. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars.

Mrs. Hudson retired from Twins Oaks Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant, which she enjoyed dearly. She also enjoyed volunteering and helping others.

She is survived by her husband, Dudley Hudson, Sr. They would have celebrated their 76th anniversary on October 16, 2012.

She is also survived by her four children, Willie E. Evans, Olaree (Edward) Hudson, Howard (Linda) Hudson, Dudley Hudson, Jr.; sisters, Ethel Doss, Sarah Hughes; and a sister-in-law, Ida Doss; 13 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by a son, John-Earl Hudson; four sisters; and three brothers.

Friends may call Friday, October 12, 2012, from 11 A.M., until time of services at 12 Noon, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 185 South Pleasant St., Oberlin. The Reverend Fred L. Bell will officiate.
