Betty Jo Wilcox, 76, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington, after a long illness. She was born August 4, 1936 in Undilla, Georgia, living in the LaGrange/Elyria area since she was 19.
She was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church for many years. She was employed by Convenient in Elyria as a clerk, a cook at Prospect Elementary School, and most recently, on the Wilcox Farms. She was a member of the Old Glory Grange in LaGrange, and a member of the National Christmas Tree Association for many years. Mrs. Wilcox enjoyed the Christmas tree farm and caring for her animals.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Kopis of Elyria, Shirley Kopis of Elyria; one son, Mike (Jayne) Kopis of Elyria; three stepsons, Avery Wilcox II of LaGrange, Steve Wilcox of Atwater, Greg Wilcox of Wooster; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janelle Dupree of Pinehurst, Georgia, Jo Ann Kirkus of Undilla, Georgia; and one brother, Marvin Jones of Undilla, Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Avery Wilcox in 2011; a great-grandson, Gavin Templeton; and her parents, Capus and Essie Jones.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, Monday, October 15, 2012, from 6 until 8 P.M., with funeral services Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 10:30 A.M., with Reverend Ralph Krall, Pastor of LaGrange United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in LaGrange Cemetery.
