Donald W. Banig, 79, passed away at Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville on Saturday, October 20, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born September 13, 1933 in Bellaire, Ohio and has lived in North Ridgeville for 40 years, moving from Cleveland.Donald worked as a forklift operator for Goodyear Tire and Rubber before retiring in 1995, after 38 years of service. He found enjoyment in woodcraft, working around his yard and camping. He was also a Boy Scout leader and belonged to the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (nee Morris); sons, Terry (Sally) Banig of St. Louis, Missouri and David (Lynda) Banig of Medina; grandson, David of Medina; brother, Tom (Sandra) Banig of Middleburg Heights; dear friend, David Morrison of North Ridgeville, who has helped the family greatly throughout.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. and Wilma (nee Duvall) Banig.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. Service will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10 A.M., with Rev. Bob Sanson officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
