Frances E. “Bette” Dumski (nee Schmitz)

Frances E. “Bette” Dumski (nee Schmitz), 85, of Elyria, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Ames Family Hospice, following a brief illness. She was born April 11, 1927 in Antigo, Wisconsin and was an Elyria resident for most of her life.Bette worked as an aide in the surgery department at EMH Healthcare for 23 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and was a volunteer at the hospitality house of the church. She was also a member of the Elyria United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Hicks of Vermilion; sons, Larry (Helen) Dumski of Rocky River, and Tom (Lori) Dumski and Jim (Lisa) Dumski, both of Elyria; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Helene Dehnbostal of Scottsdale, Arizona and Jean Knapp of Tampa, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus “Ted” Dumski in 2004; daughter, Carol Dumski in 2012; twin grandsons and sister, Ellen Diedrich.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Monday, October 22, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Charles Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
