Hannah Elizabeth (Davis) Fain Hamzah

Hannah Elizabeth (Davis) Fain Hamzah, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at New Life Hospice in Lorain. Born June 16, 1928 in West Point, Mississippi, to Ernest and Katie (Moseley) Davis, Hannah was the eldest daughter of five children.She attended Mary Holmes College in West Point where she met and married her husband, Benjamin Fain in 1951 and worked as a teaching assistant.

Hannah was a resident of Lorain for over 55 years and worked as a school crossing guard making sure the children crossing 21st Street were able to do so safely en route to school. She was kind hearted, warm spirited and maintained a positive attitude throughout adversity and life events.

She leaves behind six children, Betty (Joe) Willis, Pamela Fain, Phillip (Flossie) Fain, Timachien (Tonya) Hamzah, Fatima Hamzah, Kyanna Hamzah; two sisters, Ada Meaders of West Point, Mississippi and Carolyn Gay of Chicago, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin (Fain) Hamzah; her parents, Ernest and Katie Davis; and brothers, Ernest James and Alvin Davis.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at New Life Hospice for providing a comforting and caring environment for their mother.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain, OH 44052.
