Joe Biden blasts Mitt Romney in Lorain visit

LORAIN — Vice President Joe Biden blasted Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney during a campaign appearance today at Lorain High School.

Biden, on a campaign swing through Ohio this week, complained that Romney and his running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, for favoring the rich and the banks over the middle class.

He accused Romney of believing that America is in a state of decline.

“I honest to god don’t recognize the country they’re talking about,” Biden told the enthusiastic crowd of 1,295 packed into the high school’s gym as he rattled off dropping unemployment and other figures he argued shows that the economy is rebounding.

He said Romney has shown what he can do as both governor of Massachusetts and while he ran Bain Capital. Romney’s job, Biden said, was to maximize profits and he outsourced jobs.

“This guy is the prince of outsourcing,” Biden said.

Biden said he and President Barack Obama have a far different vision for the future, which he said involves keeping taxes low for the middle class and encouraging businesses to bring jobs back to America.

He also said that Romney doesn’t support equal pay for women in the workforce, but he said he and the president do.

Biden called on the crowd to get out and vote as well as campaign in the run-up to the election.

“We win Ohio and we win this election!” Biden called out to applause from the crowd.

As he left the event, Biden took his time moving through the crowd, laughing and talking to supporters.
