LORAIN — Lorain Mayor Chase Ritenauer has just completed his speech to the crowd gathered in the gymnasium at Lorain High School waiting to hear Vice President Joe Biden.
Ritenauer urged the crowd to support Biden and President Barack Obama, telling them to get out and knock on doors to help Biden and Obama win a second term.
“We’re better off today than we were four years ago,” Ritenauer said to cheers from the crowd. ”Four more years!”
The mayor portrayed the election as a choice between what he described as Obama’s support of the middle class and the competing version offered by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Obama, Biden, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon, and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kapture, D-Toledo, offered the better vision of the future, he said.
“They believe what we believe,” Ritenauer said. “A strong economy is built from the middle out, not the top down.”
