Man allegedly burglarized ex’s home twice

ELYRIA — A Lorain man accused of burglarizing his ex-girlfriend’s home Oct. 10 is accused of doing it again around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

April Lowery said Jermaine Powell kicked down the back door of her home in the 100 block of Brunswick Court and came into her bedroom where she said he threatened to, “beat your (expletive)” according to a police report. Lowery said Powell took the glasses off her face and another pair as well as a three-pack of underwear.

Officer Joseph Figula said he caught Powell hiding in a greenhouse at 127 Academy Court and had to straddle Powell’s back to handcuff him. Powell, 26, 1900 block of Nichols Drive, was charged with aggravated burglary. He has a pending aggravated burglary charge related to the Oct. 10 burglary.

Powell was being held without bond at the Lorain County Jail Monday night and is due in Elyria Municipal Court today.
