Marla Kay Hudak (nee Apple), 51, of Amherst, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at EMH Healthcare, following a brief illness. She was born on May 22, 1961 in Ravenna, Ohio. Marla lived in Garrettsville, Ohio before making her home in this area in 1993. She was employed for 21 years as an assembler for Swagelok Corporation in Solon. Marla was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elyria and AWANA. She was an avid reader who enjoyed baking, cooking and needle crafts. Marla loved going to minor league baseball games.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Joseph, to whom she was married for over 19 years; her mother, Frances Arlene (nee Hilliard) Apple of Bradenton, Florida; brothers, Gerald E. “Jay” Apple of Garrettsville, Kent K. Apple of Hampton, Virginia and Mark H. Apple of Garrettsville; sisters, Beverly A. (Dennis) Musgrove of Garrettsville and Elizabeth E. (Raymond) Maynard of Newton Falls, Ohio; her step daughters, Michelle Lynne (Brandon) Morelock of Ashburn, Georgia and Amy Elizabeth Hudak of Bradner, Ohio; and her step grandchildren, Trinity Shae, Mark Levi, Tyler Joseph and Corbin Lee.
Marla was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Edison Apple, Sr. in 1982; her father-in-law, Robert J. Hudak in 2009; and her brother-in-law, James A. Hudak in 2010.
Friends and relative will be received on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 1:30 until 3:30 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Elyria, 11400 LaGrange Road (Rt. 301), Elyria, OH 44035. A “Going Home” Service will follow at 3:30 P.M. in the church with The Rev. Mr. Patrick Odle, Senior Pastor officiating. A committal service and burial will be Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
