John T. Hughett, 64, of Lorain, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, after a long illness. He was born July 11, 1948 in Robbins, Tennessee, and resided in Lorain since the late 1970s.
John worked as a maintenance person at Clearview Mobile Home Park in Lorain, at Amherst Manor Nursing Home and at Robinson Pipe in Lorain. He enjoyed working on older model and antique cars.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carole Hughett (nee Jabbusch); children, Jessica and Debra Hughett, both of Lorain, and John D. Hughett of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Damon, Jonathan and Zachary Hughett, all of Indianapolis and Logan Lowe of Lorain; sisters, Mattie McDaniels of Lorain and Geraldine (Ben) Walden of Pioneer, Tennessee; brother, Roy Hughett of Elyria; sister, Joy (David) Vaughn of South Amherst; brothers, Donald (Lounicia) Hughett of Huntsville, Tennessee and James (Vivian) Harness of Clinton, Tennessee; and sister, Jeanette (Keith) Rahrig of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Bell Hughett (nee Harness); sister, Maggie Lawson; and brothers, William Edison Hughett, and James Edward Hughett.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 2 to 4, and 6 to 8 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2012, at 1:30 P.M., in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Danny Parsons, Pastor of Church of the New Harvest in Elyria, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
