Judith R. Laubenthal (nee Mayle), 73, of Elyria, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Elyria Wesleyan Village, following a brief illness. She was born November 8, 1938, in Wolf Run, Ohio, and has been an Elyria resident since 1972, coming from North Ridgeville.
Judy worked as a cashier at Giant Eagle in Elyria. Prior to working at Giant Eagle, she also worked at the former Meyer Goldberg grocery store and also at the former Independent Oil and Tire Co. She was a 1956 North Ridgeville High School graduate, bowled on numerous bowling leagues for many years, and enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos and taking trips to Amish country.
Survivors include her daughter, Laurie (Joe) Whatmore of Grafton; sons, R. Thomas Laubenthal (Shannon Sabo) of Grafton and Jeffrey M. Laubenthal (Patty Forbush) of Elyria; grandchildren, Amber (Mario) Brown, Matthew Whatmore, Gabrielle (John) Stewart, Ben Whatmore, Hannah, Joshua, and Emily Laubenthal; and great granddaughter, Emily Helton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Freda Mayle; sisters, Verna Belle Smith, Eloise and Pauline Mayle; and a brother, Donald David Mayle.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 4 until 7 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Service will be Friday, October 26, 2012, at 10 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverend Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
