The Lorain County Coordinated School Health Coalition, conducted through the Lorain County General Health District, is pleased to host the workshop series, Blueprint for Excellence, to help schools implement quality coordinated school health programs. Register today for the workshop series that kicks off on November 7th from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Lorain County Educational Service Center, 1885 Lake Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035. This workshop is designed to help schools transform environments, engage their communities, and promote healthier lifestyles for students, teachers and parents.
Keynote speaker for the November 7th Workshop, Jill Jackson, Consultant within the Office for School Health at the Ohio Department of Education, will address the importance of School Climate as a foundation for academic outcomes and wellness. In the afternoon, Kathleen Kern, PhD, Child and Adolescent Services Director for the Lorain County Board of Mental Health, will share how Lorain County Schools can put the right pieces together to support mental health. The workshop will also feature an interactive panel of educators sharing what they are doing to combat the obesity epidemic of school-aged children and breakout sessions on school nutrition, physical education/activity and mental health.
This workshop is for all school administrators, staff and community partners. The workshop series will be held on November 7, 2012 and February 5, 2013 (with the snow date of February 12, 2013).
