Frank Mervin Whalen

Frank Mervin Whalen, 79, of North Ridgeville, passed away at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph on Thursday, October 25, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Mt. Sterling, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 65 years.

Frank served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He worked as a forklift operator for York International for many years, retiring in 1999.

At one time, he was a drummer with the Fugitives Band. He also enjoyed attending Classic Car shows and Cruise-Ins, golf, bowling and spending time with his wife. He was a member of the VFW Post in Elyria.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara; brothers, Donald, Duane and Randall (Triva) Whalen, all of Clearwater, Florida; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Edith Whalen; sisters, Frances Brady, Jeannie Weaver and Roberta Whalen; brothers, Jesse and James Whalen.

Friends may call Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 2 to 5 P.M. at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Service will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
