Lester Edwin Lewis

Lester Edwin Lewis, 92, of Amherst, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain, following a brief illness. Lester was born October 14, 1920 in Lorain. He had made his home in Amherst for over 50 years before moving to Lorain, where he had resided for the last ten years.

Lester proudly served with the 80th infantry division in the United States Army during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. He was self employed as an accountant. Lester was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst. He also served on the Amherst Hospital Board of Directors.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen Elizabeth Lewis (nee Smith); his sons, Kenneth Lewis and his wife Kathi of Amherst, Dale Lewis of Florida, Scott Lewis and his wife Tracy of Amherst; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Lewis; sisters, Hazel Lewis, Ethel Reising, Lenore Smith, Edna Krueger; and his parents, George E. and Frances Lewis (nee Draves).

Service will be held privately by the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amherst Public Library, 221 Spring St., Amherst, OH 44001.
