Police: Man attacked at Halloween party

ELYRIA — A man told police he was beaten by a group of men at a Halloween party Friday night.

Police were called to a disturbance in the 100 block of David Drive at 11:35 p.m.

They found Jeffrey Cannon Sr., 45, of Elyria, bloody and seated in a minivan with a ripped shirt, according to a police report. The report stated Cannon “appeared intoxicated” and told officers he was “perfectly fine.”

He told officers he was at the party and began arguing with several men he did not know.

Cannon said the altercation turned physical and was “kind of like a hockey fight.”

“They pulled the shirt over my head and beat me up,” he said.

The police report did not indicate whether Cannon sought medical treatment for his injuries. Inside the residence where the party was held, officers found the kitchen table broken in half and food and blood where the fight apparently occurred.
