Don’t Let the Cold Slow You Down!

Who wants to go out and exercise when it’s cold? During the winter it’s much easier to find excuses, to avoid excercising. However, don’t let cold weather be your reason to get out of shape. Lorain County residents are invited to come in from the cold and walk all winter! 

Walking is a great way to keep healthy through the holiday season. People of all age can join Lorain County Fitness Walks, a free weekly walking group, at the Lorain County Metro Parks Splash Zone, 95 West Hamilton Road in Oberlin every Monday starting at 5:30 pm.  

The Benefits of Walking:

  • Both high and moderate intensity walking has been proven to be as beneficial as aerobic fitness workouts like running!
  • Regular walking can lower the risk for many chronic diseases, like cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • Individuals who walk regularly live longer than those who lead less active lives.
  • Walking boosts your immune system – which is important as we get into cold and flu season.

Each walker receives a bottle of water and a chance to win prizes for participating. First time walkers receive a free pedometer at registration. Walk with WOBL/WDLW on-air personalities for 30-minutes and get to know fellow walkers. Join a walk whenever you have time in your schedule; a weekly commitment is not necessary!

The only days between now and the end of the year that the group will not meet will be December 24th and 31st, in honor of the Christmas and New Year Holidays.
