The accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. when a vehicle ran into a brick wall of the T.L.C. Tavern at 333 Clark St., then fled, according to Elyria Assistant Fire Chief Tim Mitchell.
A section of the wall was smashed in by the vehicle, which apparently backed out of the caved-in section of wall leading into the kitchen area of the bar. The vehicle then took off but was reportedly located by police about 30 minutes later.
A police dispatcher confirmed the vehicle suspected in the accident had been found but was unable to provide any other information.
“We’re right in the middle of this,” the dispatcher said about 10:45 p.m.
It was not immediately known how many people were in the vehicle, if they were injured or if any arrests were made.
An unknown number of people reportedly were in the kitchen area of the bar at the time of the crash, but it was unclear whether any of them were hurt, according to Mitchell.
