Eugene E. Fillo, 82, of Amherst and formerly of Elyria, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Golden Acres Lorain County Home in Amherst, following a lengthy illness. He was born December 18, 1929 in Elyria, and has lived the past 40 years in Amherst.
Eugene had worked for the Center for Sightless workshop in Elyria. Over the years, he had attended many Baptist Churches including Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Elyria, where he received his Baptism. Eugene enjoyed going to church, roller skating and riding his bike.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley A. Runyon of Grafton; nieces, Judy Witbeck, Linda Kinter and Sheryl Gregory; and his great-nephew, Travis Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Candyss M. Fillo (nee Filler; and a great-nephew, Brandon Gregory.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Chuck Leininger, Pastor of Elyria Baptist Church in Elyria, will officiate. Burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park in Amherst Township. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria, from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, prior to the service.
