Just 18 homes and businesses in Avon Lake remained without electricity this morning due to superstorm Sandy. Five customers in Avon also were without power.
Buildings that had their power restored in Avon Lake included Lakeshore United Methodist Church. According to the Lorain County Board of Elections, it was the last polling place in the county to be out of power, so all county voters will be able to vote at their regular locations.
FirstEnergy reported about 12,000 customers in Ohio with no power Sunday, mostly in Cleveland and its suburbs.
Cleveland officials have warned residents to watch for downed wires that could be a safety risk. A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition after touching a power line brought down by the storm.
