Melinda Louise Whyel (nee Dummitt), 45, of Elyria, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, following an eight year illness. She was born September 26, 1967, in Elyria, and was a life-long resident.
Melinda was a 1985 graduate of Elyria High School. She also graduated in 2004 from the Nursing program at Lorain County Community College. She was formerly employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Abbewood in Elyria. Melinda was also a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Lighthouse Church in LaGrange. Melinda enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, music and singing.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Mark A. Whyle; two sons, Jonathan M. Whyel and Justin A. Whyel, both at home; her mother, Helen Martin (Jerry) of Norwalk; her father, Lovell Dummitt (Betty) of KY; one sister, Becky McKamey of Zanesville; and two brothers, Allen (Starr) and Steve (Rosie) Dummitt, both of KY. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9pm Wednesday November 7, 2012, at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be Thursday November 8, 2012 at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. C.W. Dummitt, Melinda’s uncle, officiating.
