She was a lifelong resident of Elyria, where she attended Elyria High School. She was a retired Hotel customer service specialist with the Cross Country Inns of Westlake, a Funeral Directors Assistant and Public Relation Representative for the Carter Funeral Homes Incorporation in Lorain and Elyria. Roberta was also a licensed Beautician for 45 years, and had worked for Andre Duvall Salon in Elyria where she worked for many years.
A member of True Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Elyria where she served as the church musician and a former member of the Pastors Aide and Women Auxiliary of the church. Bert was well known for her musical talent playing for a variety of churches and their programs in Lorain and Cuyahoga County. She enjoyed cross word puzzles, sewing, crocheting, bowling, camping and fishing.
She will be missed by her family, sons, Rod Jackson, Dennis (Kenndria) Carter both of Elyria, Clarence Carter Jr. of Mississippi; daughters, Tonya Jackson, Ramona Jackson, Jonette Jackson all of Elyria, Richell Gross of Cleveland, and Pam (Raymond) Stone of Elyria; sister, Nettie Mae Jackson of N. Ridgeville; Godson, Nicholas Stiles of Elyria; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proceeded in death by husband, Clarence E. Carter Sr.; and son, Tony Lee Jackson; parents, Rev. Robert and Bessie Jackson; sisters, Lucille Daniels, Martha Barksdale; brother, Albert Jackson; and a grandchild in infancy; nephew, Jackie Jackson; and nieces, Joann Jackson and Delphina Atkinson.
Friends may call Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. in the True Vine Primitive Baptist Church, 737 18th St. Elyria. The celebration of life will be Friday, 12 Noon in the Church. The Elder James Furucon Pastor will officiate with burial in Brookdale Cemetery.
