NEW RUSSIA TWP. — A Lorain man has died after injuries suffered after his vehicle struck a deer Tuesday night.
The crash occurred at 12:20 a.m. on Baumhart Road, south of Russia Road, according to a news release.
Robert Trimble, 29, of Lorain, was traveling northbound when he struck a buck that ran into the road. The deer went through the windshield of Trimble’s 2010 Ford F-150, striking Trimble in the upper torso area, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The F-150 the traveled off the road, striking a mailbox and a rock. It came to a final rest in a yard north of the collision.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Trimble was taken to Mercy Allen Hospital by LifeCare and later flown to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. He was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon but pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. at the hospital.
Speed or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the State Highway Patrol.
