Fannie Mae Walden, 97, of Oberlin went home to be with the Lord on Friday November 9, 2012 in New Life Hospice of Lorain following a short illness. She was born in Marietta, Florida coming to Oberlin, over 70 years ago from Cleveland.
A graduate of Geneva High School Class of 1933. Mrs. Walden was employed as a beautician for over 50 years and owned and operated her own salon. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oberlin where she occasionally was the church musician, member of the Order of Eastern Stars Martha Chapter #35 of Oberlin for 65 years, Daughters of Isis ElHasa Court #47 of Cleveland, Member of NAACP of Oberlin, Tri-City Beautician, The Oberlin Aires (a community singing group). She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing bridge card games.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Lloyd (Linda) Walden of Oberlin; daughter, Sharon (David) Holloway of Olmsted Falls; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Walden; parents, Charles and Fannie Walden; two twin granddaughters.
Friends may call Tuesday November 13, 2012 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 47 Locust Street Oberlin. Order Of Eastern Star Martha Chapter #35 will conduct service at 7 P.M. Service will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11 A.M. The Reverend Fred Bell, Pastor will officiate. Burial in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
