AVON — Approximately 8,500 FirstEnergy customers lost power Monday morning after a FirstEnergy utility pole caught fire, spokesman Mark Durbin said.
On Monday afternoon, 2,634 customers in Avon were without power. Durbin said the most customers affected were in Avon, North Ridgeville, North Olmsted and Westlake as the fire affected a sub transmission line that provided power to those areas.
Eight customers in Avon Lake were without power Monday afternoon as well. Electricity to the area had just been restored Nov. 6 after superstorm Sandy knocked out power for more than a week.
Power was restored to customers, and no outages were reported on FirstEnergy’s website Monday night.
