LORAIN — Two men were shot Tuesday in Lorain, but the circumstances of the shooting are uncertain.
Detective Jacob Morris said police are skeptical about the victims’ stories.
Morris, who wouldn’t identify the men, said they told police a man shot them around 3:55 p.m. on Washington Avenue near the West 18th Street intersection.
However, Morris said residents in the area didn’t report hearing shots, and the shooting may have taken place in an apartment at 637 W. 14th St.
Morris said both men are in their 20s. He said one was shot once in the left leg and the other was shot multiple times in each leg.
Morris said the men said they were not together and were approached separately by a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt who shot them. One man said he was shot randomly while the other said it was an attempted robbery. One of the men went to EMH Elyria Medical Center, where staff called police.
Morris said both men were uncooperative.
“We’re not sure if they’re victims, suspects, witnesses or what,” Morris said of the men. “It’s really kind of a weird situation.”
