Betty Jean Boland (nee Kyle), 81, formerly of Oberlin, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. She was born September 27, 1930 in Lorain, to Walter J. and Doris A. Kyle and graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1948-B.
Betty was employed at U.S. Steel in Lorain for many years. Later in life, she worked at Hess Pharmacy, sold Avon, and worked with her daughter at Mother & Child Resale Shop and The Main Office Copy Shop in Oberlin. She enjoyed reading and flower arranging, but most of all, spending time with her granddaughters, Sarah and Brooke.
She moved to Oregon, Illinois in August 2011, with her daughter’s family and made several close friends.
Survivors include daughter, Deborah Harris, son-in-law, Kent Harris; granddaughters, Sarah and Brooke Harris of Oregon, Illinois; stepson, William Boland, wife Gina; grandchildren, Grant and Jessica of Nuneaton, England; stepfather, Vincent Minotti of Lorain; sister-in-law, Barbara Kyle of Lorain; nieces, Jennifer Kyle-Hampton of Lorain, Kelly Ploszaj of Oberlin; and nephew, Walter “Skip” Kyle of Elyria.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Brian S. Boland in 1986; mother, Doris A. Minotti (Kyle)(nee Yeager) in 2006; father Walter J. Kyle, Sr. in 1961; and brother, Walter J. Kyle, Jr. in 2008;
An open house celebration of Betty’s life, will be Sunday, November 25, 2012, at The Oberlin Inn, 7 North Main Street, Oberlin, from 2 until 5 P.M. A private burial will be at Ridge Hill Cemetery in Lorain.
