Police arrested Dwayne Taylor, 26, of Cleveland, on Wednesday and charged him with burglary and criminal damaging for a burglary reported Oct. 11.
On that date, a woman living in a home in the 2100 block of Oberlin Avenue. pulled into her driveway to find two unknown men in her driveway attempting to load her flat-screen television into a vehicle. The woman confronted the burglars, who said they were picking up some of their friend’s belongings.
The woman yelled at the men and said that they were at her residence and began calling 911, when one of the men yelled at her to move her vehicle, which was blocking them in the driveway, according to a police report.
The men then jumped into the car and drove through the woman’s yard and through a wooden fence, speeding down Oberlin Avenue and West 22nd Street.
Police said the car the suspects were driving was reported stolen earlier that day. Police dusted for fingerprints on the television left behind in the yard. Evidence from the investigation led to Taylor as one of the alleged burglars.
