Amherst police seek man for attempted robbery

An Amherst woman was confronted by a man with what she believed was a gun in her garage yesterday, according to police.

The Quail Court woman, 64, had just arrived home from work and pulled into her garage when she saw a black male about 22 to 25 years old pointing an object at her, police said.

The man ordered her to give him a bag she had in her hand when her husband heard the altercation in the garage and came outside, scaring the man off.

According to police, the man left in a white vehicle parked in front of the home.

No one was hurt, and the man fled before the woman handed over the bag, police said.

Amherst police ask that anyone with information about this robbery call the Police Department at 988-2625.
