Betty M. Denham, 92, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, after a long illness. She was born October 15, 1920 in LaGrange, living there all her life.
She was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church for many years, and former member of the Martha Circle. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1938 and from Bowling Green University in 1942, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Education. She taught Business Education at LaGrange High School for seven years, then worked at Sidney Motors in Grafton, and at the Lorain County Health Dept. in Oberlin. She was a Golden Sheaf member of the Old Glory Grange and enjoyed working at the Lorain County Fair in the Grange Cafeteria as the “gravy lady” for several years. She was an alumni of Alpha Kappa Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta and a life member of Kappa Phi Club of University of Christian Women.
She is survived by four sons, John David (Sandy) Denham, Edson (Elizabeth) Denham, Walter Denham, Jr., James (Sue) Denham; grandchildren, Sarah, Jeff, Mariah, Brandon, Amber; three great grandchildren; and niece, Brenda Holcomb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1988; daughter, Ruth Ann Pogacsnik in 1986; brothers, Harvey and Howard Holcomb; sister, Celia; and Richard “Dick” Holcomb.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, Friday, November 23, 2012 from 11 A.M. until time of service at 1 P.M., where Rev. Ralph Krall, Pastor of LaGrange United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township.
